HABIGANJ, Jan. 1: A daring dacoity was committed in a microbus near the village of Balikhul under Baniachang upazila, on the Habiganj–Nabiganj road, on the night of December 8 last year.
A gang of dacoits, armed with deadly weapons, halted a Habiganj-bound microbus (registration Dhaka-Metro-Ta-2602) that was coming from Sylhet on the R & H road near Balikhul. They snatched away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth about Taka two lakh from the passengers.
The dacoits also halted two other microbuses at the same location and, on the same night, took cash, wristwatches, and other valuables from the passengers.
Incidents of dacoity on the Habiganj–Nabiganj and Habiganj–Baniachang roads have increased recently.
