Week Activity Description
Week 1 📣 Announcement & Registration Officially launch the Olympiad through school notice boards, website, and class announcements. Share competition details, eligibility criteria, and timelines. Begin the registration process by collecting participant information and assigning students to appropriate grade-based or skill-based groups.
Week 2 📘 Orientation Session Conduct an orientation session for all participants to explain the structure of the competition, types of rounds, judging criteria, and expectations. Distribute a study guide that includes sample questions, topic outlines, and helpful tips for each round. Encourage students to start preparing individually or in groups.
Week 3 📝 Rounds 1 & 2: Language Skills & Grammar Gladiators Organize the first two rounds focused on fundamental language proficiency.
Round 1: Assess vocabulary, word usage, and word pairings through MCQs and fill-in-the-blanks.
Round 2: Test grammar knowledge including sentence structure and parts of speech through MCQs and short answers.
Ensure fair time limits and invigilation during these written assessments.
Week 4 🧠 Rounds 3 to 6: Creative Expression, Comprehension, and Grammar Conduct the next set of rounds that dive deeper into students' understanding and expressive ability.
Round 3: Focus on phrasal verbs, idioms, and sentence building through matching and creative writing.
Round 4: Use visual stimuli to encourage storytelling and expression.
Round 5: Test reading comprehension of prose and poetry, followed by explanation-based answers.
Round 6: Advanced grammar round focusing on voice change and narration.
Evaluate creativity, logic, and grammatical precision throughout these rounds.
Week 5 🎤 Grand Finale: Speaking Round & Award Ceremony Invite finalists to participate in an oral presentation round focused on public speaking and storytelling. Encourage use of clear articulation, confidence, and structured content.
A panel of judges evaluates the final round based on speaking rubrics.
End the week with an exciting award ceremony where winners and special category achievers (Best Speaker, Vocabulary Master, etc.) are honored with certificates, medals, and trophies.

📚 Resources Required

  • Question Papers & Answer Scripts: Prepared in advance and categorized by level (e.g., Vocabulary, Grammar, Comprehension, Writing, Speaking). These should align with the topics and skills covered in the competition rounds.
  • Whiteboard/Projector for Visuals: Used to display instructions, questions for group activities, or visual prompts during speaking or listening rounds. A projector is especially helpful for interactive rounds.
  • Sound System for Speaking Rounds: A microphone and speaker setup ensures participants can be clearly heard by judges and the audience, particularly during public speaking or dialogue assessments.
  • Evaluation Forms for Judges: Printed or digital forms outlining criteria such as fluency, accuracy, vocabulary use, grammar, pronunciation, and creativity. These forms should be uniform for fair and structured scoring.

    This section evaluates a wide range of vocabulary skills that are essential for English mastery. It includes synonyms, antonyms, word formation, collocations, idioms, contextual usage, and word classification.

  • Total Score: 100 — The scoring system is designed to evaluate a wide range of English language skills, ensuring a fair and balanced assessment of each participant:
  • Champion: Awarded to the participant with the highest overall score, demonstrating excellence across all language domains: Speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and teamwork.
  • 1st & 2nd Runner-Up: These positions go to the second and third highest scorers, acknowledging their all-round language competence and consistency.
  • Category Awards: Special recognitions for individual talents:
    • Best Speaker: Given to the most articulate and confident participant in the speaking rounds.
    • Vocabulary Master: Honors outstanding performance in vocabulary-based tasks and lexical challenges.
    • Grammar Genius: For the student demonstrating the highest accuracy and depth of understanding in grammar rounds.
    • Reading Star: Awarded to the student who shows exceptional comprehension and analytical ability during reading tasks.
    • Creative Communicator: For originality in writing, storytelling, and visual expression.

  • Certificates & Prizes: Every participant will receive a certificate. Winners and special awardees will be honored with medals, trophies, and educational gifts such as books or learning kits.
  • Judging Process: The evaluation will be conducted by an expert panel comprising experienced English teachers, language specialists, and communication trainers. To ensure fairness, objectivity, and transparency, the judges will follow a set of standardized rubrics tailored for each round. These rubrics clearly outline the specific criteria to be assessed — such as accuracy, fluency, creativity, comprehension, grammatical correctness, and engagement — along with corresponding score ranges.
