he prayeth best who loveth best both great or small
You might have heard about a very revered character named Abu-Ben-Hahem who was a very honest and sympathetic person. He used to seek joy and happiness in helping and loving others. Even the plight of an ordinary animal would distress him. In reply, everyone, be it a human or a lower animal, would also trust and love Abu.
One night he suddenly woke up and went outside to enjoy a gentle breeze. There he saw an angel writing something. He went to the angel and asked him what he was writing. "I'm enlisting the names of the people whose hearts are full of love for God", answered the angel. Abu requested the angel to see whether his name was on the list. "I don't know how much I love God, but I love all the creatures and stand by them when necessary", Abu said to the angel. However, the angel told him that his name was not on the list. Abu requested the angel to enlist his name, but the angel disappeared without uttering any words.
A moment later, the angel again appeared and showed him a big list of names whom God loves most. Abu became completely surprised to see that his name was at the top of the list. "Yes, God loves the ones who love His creation the most" the angel smilingly said to him. "Loving His creatures means praying to Him."
