Your Favorite Pastime

Doing something for enjoyment, fun, and relaxation in our free time is known as a pastime. Pastimes can be anything from reading, playing sports, cooking, painting, or watching movies. They vary from person to person and can change over time depending on an individual's interests and circumstances. My favorite pastime is reading. I have always been an avid reader and enjoy getting lost in a good book.  Reading allows me to escape reality and explore new worlds and ideas. Though I always enjoy reading science fiction, as it allows me to imagine and experience things that are not possible in my own life, I also read books from other disciplines such as history, philosophy, geology, physics, biology, etc. I feel that reading books from different disciplines can make one a complete human being. I also find that reading helps me to improve my vocabulary together with the extension of my knowledge. Whether I am reading on my own or in a book club, I always feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction when I finish a book. To me, reading is a form of self-care that provides me with a sense of peace and relaxation after a long day.
