The Internet has enabled us to get free access to information, knowledge. Therefore, learning has been much easier than ever. It has given us free access to many books, articles, magazines, lectures of scholars, educators, and teachers. If we want to learn about any topic, we just google it and find thousands of answers. We can also watch thousands of lecturers on any topic on youtube. It can connect us to the whole world instantly. We can communicate with anyone from any corner of the globe by sending email, chatting, and making voice or video calls through different apps. It can help us reach a particular location. With the usage of GPS technology, the internet can help a person reach his destination. Moreover, today's search engine can tell our location. Like e-education and e-communication, e-banking and e-business have been possible through the internet. Now, we do not need to go to the bank for any type of transaction; we can send, receive and deposit money through the internet. We can also view our account balance and transaction statement anytime we want. Similarly, we can buy any commodity without visiting a shop. We can pay our gas, water, electric bills through the internet. We can now work for any office sitting inside our home. So, we can reap the benefits of the internet everywhere. However, the internet has its drawbacks. Our young generation spends too much time on social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. This addiction harms their academic performance, affects their eyes. Therefore, they show an aversion to games and sports. They gradually lose their friends and movements, leading to obesity and other diseases. Many workers use the internet out of passion, not profession, and kill their productive time. Some pictures and videos simply ruin the moral character of our teenagers. Another disadvantage of the internet is hacking which steals confidential information. Our important data may be ruined by the viruses on the internet. Sometimes, the internet spread fake news and rumors to a large number of people. Besides, different kinds of cybercrimes may be done through the internet. Finally, though the internet has many negative sides, we cannot ignore the benefits of the internet in our day-to-day life. However, we can avoid negative sides if we want and reap the desired benefits from the internet.
