Climate refers to the average pattern of weather at a certain place over a long period. Changes in temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind movement of an area are noticed after a noticeable period of time. It means, unlike the weather, climatic change can be noticed after a certain period. However, rapid climate change has been one of the serious issues of concern. The whole world has already seen its bad effects. If these climate changes continue, natural calamities such as flood, drought, abrupt rainfall, storm, cyclones will be a regular phenomenon. The sea level will increase which will not only flood the coastal area but also damage biodiversity. In fact, low-lying parts of the globe will go underwater in the coming decades. Saline water will mix sweet water. It will cause a shortage of drinking water; it will damage our cultivation because saline water is not suitable for the cultivation. Now the question arises: what are the reasons behind abrupt climate change? Industrialization, urbanization, deforestation, volcanic eruption, wildfire are the causes of climate change. Industrial machines burn fossil fuels which produce smoke full of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, etc. Vehicles, be it bus, truck, car, train, helicopter, or airplane, burn fossil fuels which also produce greenhouse gases. We make fires to cook food, melt pitches for road construction, make bricks and burn woods. Making fire for the above-mentioned purposes creates greenhouse gases that get mixed with the air. These greenhouse gases absorb the heat of solar energy and keep the heat near the earth's surface. Sulfate aerosols also block the path of sunlight by reflecting the sunlight. Volcanic eruptions produce such sulfate aerosols. Wildfire is another natural cause of climate change because wildfires produce many greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, black carbon, methane, aerosols, etc. It is high time we took the necessary measures for stopping abrupt climate change. Currently, though we cannot do anything to fix natural causes, we have to work seriously and wisely on man-made causes. Otherwise, mankind will see catastrophe soon.
