A Letter Describing a Visit to a Historical Place

26 November 2022

25 DIT Road, Gulshan

Dear Zaman,
I felt very happy to know from your letter that you all are well. I'm alright too. I'm also very excited to respond to your letter in which you wanted to know about my recent visit to a historical place.
Last week, I together with my father and elder brother went to Hyderabad and visited some historical places. Chawmahalla palace is one of them. It is a massive palace. It is so big that I was unable to take a holistic picture of it. Check your inbox and get some images I have sent to you. These pictures will tell you how luxurious, grand and glorious the palace is!
Moreover, the palace has historical significance. About 250 years ago, a king named Nizam Salabhat
Jung laid the foundation of the palace, but he could not complete it. A century later, another king named Nizam Afzal-ad--Dawla completed the construction between 1857 and 1869. If you closely look at the images I mailed you, you will see that the palace carries the legacy of the Mughal, the Mediaeval, and European architecture.
Besides, the museum of the palace will tell you about the social aspects of the then-Nizam Empire. You will come across various galleries displaying the furniture they used, the clothes they wore, the coins and currency they had for trade and commerce, the vehicles they had for transportation, the weapons they used in the war, etc.
By the way, if you visit the palace physically, the palace will surely tell you more that cannot be represented by some images. I hope that if you go to Hyderabad, you'll not forget to visit such architectural grandeur. No more today. More when we will meet again.
Convey my best regards to your parents and love to your younger brother Sohan.

Your loving friend
Arup
