An Abandoned Umbrella
Sana beamed as she walked under the drenching rain from the library. She had found yet another fascinating book that she would soon pour herself into her reading. She cinched her old torn-out umbrella closely to herself in the wind.
At the bus stop, she folded her umbrella and set it on the bench beside her. She checked her phone for the bus schedule. Minutes later, the bus came. Sana dashed to the nearest window seat.
After a few stops, she realized something.
"My umbrella!" she yelled.
It was still on the bench behind her!
Sana felt sad. That umbrella was her favorite of all, a gift from her grandmother. But the further she thought about going back, the more she realized the bus was already too far to go back to that stop.
"I hope someone will find it and keep it safe," she whispered.
The next day, again, Sana went to the library. She had just crossed the bus stop when she was very surprised: here lay her umbrella still leaning against the bench! Someone had found it and placed it there carefully.
Sana smiled and darted forward to fetch it.
"Thank you," she softly said where no one could have heard.
Ever since, Sana double-checked her things before leaving anywhere and understood that at times, people could be very kind.
